Fans are gearing up for tonight’s premiere of American Crime, starring actor/musician Andre 3000 and accomplished actress/director Regina King.
I love to see our people doing big thangs on prime time television!
The first season of ABC’s “American Crime” tackled issues of race and social justice, earning 10 Emmy nominations, including a win for supporting actress Regina King. In the anthology series’ second season, executive producers John Ridley and Michael McDonald craft a compelling narrative about sexual identity and socioeconomic issues: A community is rocked when a high school boy accuses players on a rival team of sexually assaulting him. Many of the cast members from the first season return, but in drastically different roles.
“It will be fun for the audience to see the transformations,” says McDonald. “It’s like a theater group, and we’re putting on a new show.”
Benjamin and King are playing parents of one of the accused players.
American Crime airs on 1/6, 10pm EST on ABC
