Terry McAuliffe, Virginia's 72nd governor, a Democrat, tweeted this statement Friday afternoon.

A top Virginia Republican served as an editor for a college yearbook that includes racial slurs and at least one image of a person in blackface.

"I will not request the Governor's resignation", State Sen.

As the crisis deepened in the middle of the week, Democratic leaders and black members of the Virginia legislature appeared willing to give both Fairfax and Herring the benefit of the doubt for the time being - in Herring's case, because he apologized personally for wearing blackface.

The statement is from U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, and U.S. Representatives Bobby Scott, Gerry Connolly, Don Beyer, A. Donald McEachin, Elaine Luria, Abigail Spanberger and Jennifer Wexton. "It has been very hard to marshal the thoughts, let alone the words, to react", said the five lawmakers.

A second woman has come forward to accuse Virginia Lt. -Gov.

"I will not resign", he said.

The second allegation against Fairfax rounds out a wild week in Virginia politics that ends with the top three Democrats elected to statewide office engulfed in controversy.

"I believe these women, and I believe it is time for the lieutenant governor to resign", he said. Patrick Hope, said he intends to introduce articles of impeachment against Fairfax on Monday if Fairfax hasn't left by then. The woman said in a statement Friday that the attack took place when she and Fairfax were students at Duke University.

Watson, 38, did not speak Friday, but said in a written statement shared by her attorney, Nancy Erika Smith, that she told several classmates and friends about the encounter after it happened.

"Of course, this format demands aggressive batting and I'll try to display it tomorrow and in the further matches", Dhawan added. They beat India 2-0 in the 2008-09 in the sole bilateral series played on New Zealand soil till date.

Tyson claimed she met Fairfax during the Democratic National Convention in Boston on July 26, 2004. Fairfax denied that accusation.

Fairfax denied the newest claim, labeling it "demonstrably false".

"I felt a responsibility to myself, the beloved students I teach, and the fearless women I've tried to help overcome their own trauma", she wrote. "Such an investigation will confirm my account because I am telling the truth".

"I will clear my good name and I have nothing to hide", he added in a statement.

"Much of the discussion has, rightfully, centered around who we are as Democrats as we continue to stand against racism and against sexual assault". Mr. Fairfax's attack was premeditated and aggressive. Only then did I realize that he had unbuckled his belt, unzipped his trousers, and taken out his penis. "To be very clear, I did not want to engage in oral sex with Mr. Fairfax and I never gave any form of consent", Tyson said in the statement.

But the latest allegation of rape brought a torrent of demands for Fairfax to quit, including collective calls for his ouster from all Democrats in the state House of Delegates and Senate, and the state Legislative Black Caucus.

Northam told staff at a meeting that he won't leave the governor's office and plans to serve out the next three years of his term in spite of an ongoing scandal over his use of blackface in the 1980s.

Democratic Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey, a 2020 presidential hopeful, said Friday that he still thinks Northam should step down. But he did not call for Fairfax to step down.

Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax presides over the state Senate at the capitol on Thursday. "They are serious, credible, and corroborated by others".
