That's true of this year's TV lineup too (see the rise of 8K), but LG's latest OLED TV has something entirely different going for it: it's completely flexible, and can roll away into its base when not in use.

LG's David Vanderwaal said: "LG's rollable OLED TV goes beyond what a TV could traditionally offer". The price and availability of the Signature Oled TV R has not been confirmed.

With the LG Signature OLED TV R, this could be changed.

This brand-new form factor is even more useful than a conventional TV, since LG also designed three "display modes" that take advantage of its rollable display.

Twenty school children in China wounded in hammer attack
In October last year, a 39-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of stabbing 14 children at a kindergarten in Chongqing. The man is a maintenance worker at the school and his contract is due to expire at the end of January, police said .

During its CES 2019 press conference, LG announced an OLED TV that rolls up and hides inside a cabinet until it is needed. The first mode only raises the screen a few inches, enough to show information tiles like the time, weather, news, or music track information if you're using Airplay 2 or Alexa to stream songs.

"In Line View, users can choose from features such as Clock, Frame, Mood, Music and Home Dashboard", said the company. The South Korean company first showcased a prototype, a rollable OLED TV at last year's CES. "The panel is of 65" dimensions - we now don't have any more information about the technical specifcations of the panel, other than it is seemingly powered by LG's newly announced second generation Alpha9 SoC.

LG's new OLED TV R's base also rocks a hefty 100W Dolby Atmos speaker rig, and are reportedly about as good as a good soundbar. LG pitches this as ideal for action movies and sports, although it should also be ideal for gaming where the slightest bit of unintended blur can spoil the experience.
