Missing 13-year-old Jayme Closs was reunited with her family after being held captive by the man who allegedly murdered her parents

Their bodies were found October 15 after a mysterious 911 call led deputies to their home in Barron, Wisconsin.

The few neighbors who know Patterson's family say he grew up in a cabin in a remote development that's a mix of seasonal and year-round homes about 10 miles (16 kilometers) outside Gordon proper.

"I know all of you are searching for the answer why any of this happened", Fitzgerald said.

"These funds are going to go towards the journey with the family as they help Jayme through whatever it may be...driving to take care of her, taking her to the clinic, medical costs or anything", said De Andriano.

It is unclear exactly what Jayme experienced - including whether she was coerced with threats or physically abused - so people must be careful how they interact with her, said Duane Bowers, a trauma therapist who works with families of missing and exploited children and adults.

Fitzgerald says authorities don't know of any social media connection between Patterson and the girl.

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald speaks during a news conference in Barron, Wis., on January 11, 2018. He quit the next day, saying he was moving, Mr Steve Lykken said. It appeared Patterson hid her from his friends and other people, the sheriff said without elaborating.

The girl had been missing since her parents, James and Denise Closs, were found shot to death on October 15 at the family's home near Barron.

News that Jayme had been found alive ended an all-out search that gripped the country. A 911 call was placed from Denise Closs's cell phone.

Smith is Jayme's Godmother and provided daycare for her when she was younger.

During the intense, nationwide investigation for Jayme, officials from the FBI, state patrol and local law enforcement received thousands of tips.

"There's always hope for Rosie, I never give up", John Daniel said Friday.

On Thursday, after being missing for close to three months, Jayme approached a stranger near the small, isolated north woods town of Gordon, Wisconsin and pleaded for help.

She escaped and ran to a vacation cabin where Jeanne Nutter was just returning from walking her dog at around 4:30 pm Thursday.

They described the 13-year-old as the suspect's "only target" and said Jayme was "taken against her will".

"I'm lost and I don't know where I am, and I need help", Jayme told Nutter, the woman told the station.

That woman brought Jayme to the home of neighbors Peter and Kristin Kasinskas.

"When we said she was found safe and alive, (there were) tears and lots of hugs", Fitzgerald said. "She said she did not know him". Last month he got a cake that read: "Happy Birthday Rose" for her 36th birthday. He was pulled over near where Jayme Closs was found and arrested thanks to a vehicle description she provided.

When deputies arrested him, he was out looking for Jayme, Fitzgerald said. Authorities are now giving her time to settle into her new home before they question her again, the sheriff added.

While the young man worked at the same meat processing plant as Jayme's parents almost three years ago, he did so for only one day and police said there is no evidence that there was any contact between them. Jayme had been at home when the killing took place, Fitzgerald said.

"What a great feeling to have her home", wrote the 13-year-old's aunt, Jennifer Smith, who is the sister of Jayme's late mother, Denise Closs.

"Jayme was the hero in the case". They say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the case.

"We did a neighborhood canvass, and there were other houses around where Jayme was".
