CNN Host Says Warren's 2020 Bid Is 'Dead on Arrival'

On"The Rachel Maddow Show Wednesday night Sen. Elizabeth Warren said that all Democratic presidential candidates should pledge to run grassroots people-funded campaigns in 2020

In mid-December, former Obama housing chief Julian Castro also announced a presidential exploratory committee, which legally allows potential candidates to begin raising money. "She's based her life on being a minority", Trump told a group of his supporters prior to Warren's taking a DNA test.

Having recently named a team of seasoned Iowa campaign hands, Warren took the stage in the bowling alley bar to a typical campaign soundtrack of pop and classic hits. Her husband declines a beer for himself. Many said they were impressed.

Warren's visit is an effort to gain an early advantage in the state.

Warren immediately seized on the article as fodder for a fundraising email, suggesting that the piece was just "beard-stroking" sexism and "Republican propaganda".

Never mind the fact that Politico's article was written by a woman, who spoke directly to current and former Warren staffers, and addressed the idea that the comparisons to Clinton could be considered sexist. She was afraid Warren might come off as angry, but "that's not anger, that's passion". Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) speaks to guests during an organizing event at the Orpheum Theater on January 5, 2019 in Sioux City, Iowa. Other Democratic presidential prospects are expected to announce their plans in the coming weeks, and have been in touch for weeks with party leaders, activists and potential staff in Iowa.

She must also move past a widely panned October release of a DNA test meant to bolster her claim to Native American heritage.

But Trump has continued to criticize her and say the test was not valid. One of the first top-tier contenders to enter what figures to be one of the most crowded fields for Democrats in some time, Warren is aiming to lay down her marker as its resident economic populist and pitch herself as the ultimate fighter for the middle class.

"She's true to her word", a Council Bluffs resident named John (who declined to give his last name) told CBS after Warren's event there.

DeGeneres said that while she is sensitive to homophobia, she also accepts his apology. "Either I can move forward, or I can't". But Variety's report disputes the "apologetic" tone from Ellen , saying the comments were "taken out of context".

Even during her occasional strolls in the policy weeds, Warren, who has set the tone for her remarks so far by opening them with the story of her mother's struggle to find a minimum wage job to help save their house after Warren's father suffered a debilitating heart attack, she keeps up a low fury.

"Show us your papers".

"They work for the rich and the powerful and not the rest of us".

Despite the website's insistence that Warren's claims to Native American ancestry are not problematic, the senator spent her first week on the campaign trail seemingly making amends to tribal nations. Warren instead urged Congress to act to protect the special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.

It's a message that echoed with an audience in the working-class cities of Council Bluffs on Friday evening and Sioux City on Saturday morning and lit up the crowd in the liberal state capital of Des Moines Saturday evening. "Warren's visit, I think people are genuinely excited to see her", said Penny Rosfjord, a state central committee member and Iowa Democratic Party 4th congressional district chair. She is not a citizen of any tribe.

She also took a shot at President Trump, who has been critical of her claims.

Addressing reporters in Boston on Wednesday, Warren said she hoped the trip to Iowa would be a "conversation". I just wanted to ask you whether the Democratic voters there seem excited about what's - what is to come. "Or is this going to be one more thing that billionaires can buy?"

The former first lady released her memoir Becoming late a year ago and it took just 15 days for it to become the highest-selling book published in the USA in 2018.
