Qualcomm plans to unveil more details about the Snapdragon 855 at its Tech Summit conference, which is ongoing this week. The company touts huge performance increases that could even allow it to overtake the Apple A12 Bionic. Snapdragon Elite Gaming, which includes Qualcomm working with top gaming companies to tune the Snapdragon mobile gaming experience. (It's unclear if this pattern will continue with the S10.) Samsung is at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit 2019 where the Snapdragon 855 has been unveiled, which we're taking that to mean the company is nearly certain to include the new Snapdragon on its next flagship.

Qualcomm specifically mentions that Snapdragon 855 will be the processor powering next year's 5G-ready mobile phones, so get ready to hear "Snapdragon 855" a lot over the next year.

Qualcomm's Snapdragon chips now power over a billion phones ranging from entry-level devices to flagship models, which is undoubtedly what the Snapdragon 855 is destined for in the first quarter of 2019. It lets the technology tap into the multiple cores of the chip to process information faster than before. At this point, Qualcomm has only said this new chipset will offer "up to three times the AI performance compared to the previous generation mobile platform".

Qualcomm's Snapdragon Tech Summit 2018 officially kicked off today with a number of 5G-related announcements from Qualcomm and their partners. Katouzian also said Qualcomm's updated AI engine should outpace what rival chipmakers are doing with artificial intelligence, promising a 2x improvement over the Kirin 980.
