Mexico's Tijuana Shelter of 6,000 Caravan Migrants Closed

Migrants waiting in Mexico to have their asylum claims processed at the U.S. border are reportedly being given numbers, which are written on their arms with permanent marker.

Mexico's Interior Ministry said it would immediately deport those who tried to "violently" enter the U.S. from Tijuana.

"It's as they said it would be", said Gallegos, who is from Honduras and planned to wait on her application for US asylum from the new camp.

Trump administration officials vowed Friday to address some of the issues that forced them to decide against criminally prosecuting any of the 42 members of a Central American migrant caravan arrested last weekend after crossing the US-Mexico border illegally during a chaotic clash with Border Patrol agents.

Lurbin Sarmiento, 26, of Copan, Honduras, walked back to the sports complex with her four-year-old daughter, shaken from what had unfolded a short time earlier at the border when United States agents fired tear gas.

"The perpetrators will be prosecuted", she said then.

When Customs and Border Patrol officials arrested 46-year-old Miguel Angel Ramirez after he illegally entered the US near San Diego, he was only four months out of a Honduran prison after serving 10 years for homicide and three years for robbery.

Hundreds of people marched toward the San Ysidro crossing where they were stopped by Mexican police.

The situation devolved after the group began a peaceful march to appeal for the U.S. to speed up processing of asylum claims for Central American migrants marooned in Tijuana.

Dramatic pictures show earthquake's path of destruction in Alaska
Alaska Governor Bill Walker told CBS News on Friday night that the state was just beginning to evaluate the extent of the damage. It had lasted several minutes and caused a destructive tidal wave across the entire West Coast, totaling some 130 casualties.

When officials apprehended 46-year-old Miguel Angel Ramirez near the San Ysidro port of entry in California, he admitted that he had served a 13-year sentence for robbery and murder.

Officials said all the migrants were being moved to a former concert venue much farther from the border.

Some saw an opportunity to breach the crossing.

"All of the migrant caravan are families, they're children". Children were screaming and coughing in the mayhem.

One Honduran man tried to swim to the US side but quickly got in trouble in the rough waters of the Pacific.

Some threw projectiles that struck several agents, according to US Customs and Border Protection.

Rodney Scott, chief of the Border Patrol's San Diego sector, has said those arrested Sunday for illegal entry included 27 men, with the other 15 being women and children. The mayor, who supports the deportation of violent migrants, once again called on the federal government and the newly elected leader to step up their efforts to support the city, which is struggling to accommodate around 8,000 migrants now waiting for the U.S. to process their asylum claims. Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said in a tweet after the Sunday clash that the actions by the migrants were "dangerous and not consistent with peacefully seeking asylum".

Earlier this week, Tijuana Mayor Juan Manuel Gastelum said that he can not continue to fund the shelters for migrants without federal support and that the city's 1.7 million residents will face increasing taxes in the future.
