Leicester beat City to pull off second shock

Ricardo Pereira dented Manchester City's title challenge with a stunning victor as Leicester gained revenge for their Carabao Cup quarter-final defeat over the reigning champions.

Will Liverpool win the Premier League title?

Pep Guardiola's men took the lead through Bernardo Silva, but Marc Albrighton would equalise for the Foxes and the score ended 1-1 at half-time.

Pep Guardiola says the Premier League title race is far from over despite Manchester City slipping to third following their 2-1 defeat at Leicester City.

"They win games, we don't win games so the gap increases". When we win I insist they are calm and now it is the same.

A second successive league loss over the festive period has left the Blues trailing leaders Liverpool by seven points with a resurgent Spurs, who leapfrogged us into second place, also challenging. Last season we were very consistent and this season, especially Liverpool and Tottenham, they are so good.

Just four days after Andros Townsend had helped Crystal Palace to a 3-2 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, Pereira hit an 81st-minute victor to give Leicester a 2-1 victory on Boxing Day at the King Power Stadium. "If you want to be real contenders you need to win again [soon]", said Guardiola. But Guardiola's side would appear to have bigger problems at the other end of the pitch - conceding three against the Eagles and failing to keep a clean sheet in their last eight games.

Alex Ferguson "back in business" at Man United
If they do well then great. "Yes in the fact that we were looking for someone that loves the club and knows the club". It's a big job, but a dream job.

City had Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero on the bench against Palace and both could be in the starting line-up for Wednesday's game at the King Power Stadium.

Most Blues agree that Fernandinho is one of Manchester City's most important player - perhaps the most important considering the lack of alternatives available for his role.

"It was the same as Crystal Palace", Guardiola said.

It looked set to matter little on 14 minutes, where Leicester were caught square at the back for Bernardo Silva's opener.

"We are not happy but we try to overcome the situation".

"You have to think about how to solve it when you don't have players in a position".
