Miss Spain, Angela Ponce, made history at the Miss Universe pageant Sunday night as the competition's first transgender contestant.

Her message of support came a couple of days after Gray competed in the Miss Universe preliminaries, where she debuted her much-talked about "Lava Walk" that featured a slow-mo twirl. After a while I realised that I can't change other people's perspective of me.

"A few years ago I lost a close friend to health complications with HIV", she said.

Miss Universe beauty pageant in 2012 announced that they allowed transgender participants after Canadian transgender model Jenna Talackova sued the Miss Universe Canada organization and was declared victorious.

Graphic artist Josef Sueno, meanwhile, simply got overwhelmed with inspiration brought by Gray's nationalistic approach in her fight to win the 2018 Miss Universe pageant. She also congratulated Catriona Gray, 24, for her win.

The ruling is expected to be appealed to the Supreme Court and the law will remain in effect until the appeals process is over. Two Republicans - Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and his Wisconsin counterpart Brad Schimel led the legal challenge.

"If that contestant can go through the casting process, become a candidate, and earn the right to represent her country, then why not? I'm OK! But I just wanted to let you guys know what I'm doing...going really fast". "I only need to be here", she said in the video.

The video featured Ponce's struggles from childhood as a member of the LGBTQ community until she finally made it to Thailand. "That is who she is", she further noted.

Despite the injury, Ashley continued to co-host Miss Universe until the end when she got to congratulate this year's victor, Miss Philippines, Catriona Gray.
