The company had previously set a threshold of $25 for orders to qualify for free shipping, but Amazon will waive that requirement starting Monday, according to the company.

Amazon Prime members still get two-day shipping, but the promotional free shipping deal is only good for Amazon's 5-8 day shipping speed. Amazon will likely release sales numbers after the holidays, so it'll be quite interesting to see exactly how much the offer helps the company out.

Prime Now will also offer special Black Friday deals to more than 30% of the United Kingdom population which can be delivered in scheduled one and two-hour delivery windows or within 60 minutes in selected postcodes.

The move makes hundreds of millions of items eligible for free shipping.

One Hour Grocery Delivery + Pickup: Prime members can shop groceries from Whole Foods Market through Prime Now in as little as an hour in 60 cities, and grocery pickup in as little as thirty minutes in select cities - making holiday feast planning or last minute baking even easier. Shoppers who aren't Prime members will get slower shipping, which can take five to eight days.

Prime subscribers will also be able to take advantage of an all-new "try before you buy" service known as Prime Wardrobe, which is created to make online shopping for clothes more convenient. From today, all Amazon customers qualify for free shipping with no minimum spend on "orders that will arrive in time for the Christmas holiday". More than three million items will be eligible for same-delivery.

Just over half of all US households have a Prime subscription, analysts estimate.

Amazon is getting ready for the holiday season in a big way. The offer starts Monday and lasts until Amazon's delivery cutoff window for Christmas (which is usually sometime in mid-December).
