Then White House Director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison Omarosa Manigault, right, walks past President Donald Trump during a meeting on healthcare in the Roosevelt Room of the White House in Washington, March 13, 2017. "You walk around this place and act like you're in charge, and you're not. And the things, some of the things Trump did and does [sic] jeopardize the real national security". According to Woodward, Trump made this comment during a Situation Room meeting in the White House on July 19 past year, almost three weeks after he had a very successful meeting with Modi at the White House on June 26.

Among other things Colbert and Woodward discussed was if the author ever thinks about the motives of his sources.

Trump tweeted Monday that he has been subjected to "Phony books, articles and TV "hits" like no other pol has had to endure".

The White House claims the book is riddled with falsehoods and the President has accused Woodward of acting as a shill for the Democrats.

The New York Times on Wednesday published a nameless op-ed from "a senior official in the Trump administration" claiming to be part of an internal "resistance" holding the presidency together by undermining Trump's "worst inclinations". The book describes moments when staff members joined together to purposefully block what they believe are the president's most risky impulses - sometimes by surreptitiously removing papers from the president's desk.

The back-and-forth over the debt was just the first clash between Cohn and Trump on economic policy, according to Woodward's book. "I like him very much", Trump is quoted as saying by Woodward. Dems can't stand losing.

The president's eldest son, who now runs the Trump Organization with his brother Eric, and has been campaigning aggressively for Republicans ahead of the midterms, dismissed Bob Woodward's book, "Fear: Trump in the White House", which was released Tuesday.

Trump calls for a fair trade deal with Canada
Without Canada, Republican lawmakers would be likely to scuttle any new NAFTA pact, The NYT report said . The president also said the USA would be fine if a deal can't be reached with its northern neighbour.

"That will put 1 million books in print before we've even gone on sale", Simon & Schuster told CNN on Monday, saying it had ordered multiple reprints to meet "extraordinary demand".

Stephen Colbert asked Bob Woodward what made him afraid during the writing of "Fear: Trump in the White House". Our side is getting all the things that they're wanting to because my father's delivering on all of the promises that he made.

WOODWARD: I know from my reporting that these are true.

Woodward won a Pulitzer Prize for his reporting in the Post on the Watergate case in 1973, and a second for a 2002 New York Times section on the 9/11 attacks.

He said early mornings and Sunday evenings, when the President often set off Tweetstorms, were "the witching hour". And Trump just would not come down from that moment, and announced [to anyone listening] that he was the president of the United States: He could fire anyone.

WOODWARD: Yes - and then finally, 30 years plus later, surfaced and acknowledged that he had been that source. And unlike, say, Michael Wolff or Omarosa Manigault Newman, Woodward comes from a position of decades of journalism about the highest levels of government with very, very few questions about the veracity of his work.
