Florence is now a hurricane, McMaster advises prep for "a lot of rain and a lot of wind"

Forecasters say Florence will pass between Bermuda and the Bahamas on Tuesday and Wednesday and start its approach to the USA on Thursday morning.

Basically, Hurricane Florence is coming in hot.

At its present course and speed, the center of Florence will move over the southwestern Atlantic Ocean between Bermuda and the Bahamas through Wednesday and approach the coast of North Carolina or SC in the hurricane watch area Thursday and Friday.

Florence is expected to strengthen further.

"I think this is very Harvey-esque", said University of Miami hurricane expert Brian McNoldy.

Hurricane Florence is now a category 3 hurricane and continues its westerly course according to the National Hurricane Center's latest update.

A rip current forms when high wind and breaking waves push water from the sea to the land. SC ordered an estimated 1 million people to evacuate its coast.

It has so far reached a maximum wind speed of 90 miles per hour.

"It's nearly certain there will be some impact on Charlotte, but it depends on the track", meteorologist Jake Wimberley said from the weather service's office in Greer, S.C. The office forecasts for the western Carolinas including Charlotte.

The center of the strong storm is about 1,240 miles east-southeast of Bald Head Island, with the hurricane moving westward at roughly 13 mph.

He added that he still believed in Tesla , that "I have no disagreements with Tesla's leadership or its financial reporting". Recreational marijuana is legal in California , but Musk had previously dismissed questions about whether he used the drug.

North Carolinians are bracing for impact as Hurricane Florence barrels toward Wilmington with the Piedmont expected to feel the storm's wrath.

North Carolina's governor urged people to learn what evacuation routes to take and put fuel in their vehicles in case they're ordered to leave. If the GFS model turns out to be the storm's correct path, the coast will be the most impacted area.

"During extreme events, even those areas which normally do not flood are at risk", read a report from the National Weather Service in a Monday morning statement.

Florence's max sustained winds have been clocked at 130 miles per hour with an further increase expected on Monday.

Although the path of the Hurricane remains unclear, the center is warning people to "closely monitor the progress of Florence, ensure they have their hurricane plan in place and follow any advice given by local officials".

Hurricane Florence is rapidly intensifying and could strike a direct and risky blow anywhere from the Carolinas to the Mid-Atlantic region later this week, possibly as a fearsome category 4, forecasters said.

The hurricane has already reached category 4, with winds up to 130 miles per hour. "I'd say get ready".

If this is a Category 4 storm, it will be the fourth in history to ever make landfall north of Georgia (Hugo was in 1989, Gracie was in 1959, and Hazel was in 1954). "We just happen to be right in the middle".

At the same time Florence is expected to make its landfall, another storm, Hurricane Isaac, is forecast to move across the Lesser Antilles and into the eastern Caribbean Sea.

Residents have also started stockpiling supplies like bottled water, plywood, and power supplies.
