Bombings and air raids kill 4 in Syria's rebel-held Idlib

"As of 9 September, 30,542 people have been displaced from northwest Syria, moving to different areas across Idlib", David Swanson, spokesman for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) said.

Idlib is largely controlled by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, an alliance led by Al-Qaeda's former Syrian affiliate, as well as rival rebels.

The renewed strikes came a day after Syrian regime allies Russian Federation and Iran and Turkey, a supporter of Syrian rebel factions, disagreed on the fate of the province at a summit in Tehran.

The talks led by Staffan de Mistura started and ended with little or no comment to reporters at the United Nations offices in Geneva, and offered a sideshow to the concerns about a looming battle for the northern province - the last remaining rebel stronghold in Syria after 7½ years of war and now home to some 3 million civilians.

Some of the heaviest bombardment in weeks hit Idlib and nearby areas on Saturday, killing at least nine civilians before coming to a halt by the evening, the Observatory said.

The United Nations has said an offensive on Idlib could force as many as 800,000 civilians to flee their homes and has urged world powers to prevent a "bloodbath". The Americans, Russians, Iranians, Turks, Israelis and more have all been involved in Syria's conflict to varying degrees, turning it into a proxy battleground for various global interests.

The world can not leave Syrian people to the mercy of Bashar Assad as his regime only seeks to wipe out its opposition in Idlib with its latest offensive, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said in an opinion piece to Wall Street Journal published on Monday.

President Donald Trump's national security adviser warned the Syrian government against using chemical weapons in the looming battle for Idlib Province, the last remaining rebel stronghold populated by more than 2 million people.

And perhaps more alarming is that the report details that Trump is undecided over whether new retaliatory strikes could entail expanding the attack to hit Assad allies Russian Federation and Iran this time around.

Peace overture? No ballistic missiles seen in North Korea’s 70th anniversary parade
North Korea holds military parades nearly every year and held one just before the Winter Olympics in South Korea in February. Unification is the only way Koreans can survive", read a Sunday editorial in communist-party newspaper Rodong Sinmun.

"It is a very major preoccupation for us", he said.

Mheymid, who has five children, said people fled in the hundreds, some bringing only blankets and kitchen supplies.

The bombings, including shelling from government areas, came a day after Iran and Russian Federation backed a military campaign in the rebel-held area despite Turkey's pleas for a cease-fire.

Speaking at the Security Council, Mrs Haly said the USA considered an assault on Idlib to be "a risky escalation of the conflict in Syria".

Russia, which has been assisting Assad in purging the terrorists since 2015, has echoed the same point, specifically naming the White Helmets activist group as the real perpetrators of the Douma attack.

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has warned that a Syrian government offensive in the country's northern region of Idlib would cause humanitarian and security risks for Turkey, Europe and beyond.

"They also include people from other parts of Syria who were transferred to Idlib, people from Homs, Aleppo, who were transferred to this province, bussed there, in evacuation deals", she said.

The civil war has claimed some 350,000 lives since 2011.
