The Mendocino Complex Fire, made up of two separate conflagrations that merged at the southern tip of the Mendocino National Forest, had burned 110,748 hectares as of Monday morning and was still growing, on track to potentially become the largest in state history. Two firefighters and four other people, including two children, were also killed.

Ayeta is the seventh person to die in the enormous blaze that has been burning for two weeks near Redding, where armies of firefighters and fleets of aircraft continue battling the flames about 100 miles (160 kilometers) south of the OR state line. The state's hot, dry conditions are fueling the record-setting blazes.

NORTHCOM's National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) in Boise, Idaho, has estimated that more than 127 wildfires are burning on about 1.6 million acres in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Arizona and Alaska. But the number of acres burned this year at 292,455 is about 50 percent higher than the 219,369 acres burnt last year and more than double the 118,811-acre average for the last 5 years.

"We're experiencing the same thing every day, which is our afternoon winds and high winds in the area", said Tricia Austin, a spokeswoman for the Mendocino Complex Fire.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection has been puzzled by the claims from the president, according to Fox News.

Neither the drought, nor California's water management policies, have stopped firefighters from using all the water they need to fight this year's wildfires, experts say.

The Ferguson Fire started on July 13.

No injuries or deaths among firefighters or civilians have been reported.

So far the Carr Fire has left seven people dead and razed more than 1,600 buildings, more than half of them family homes, state officials said Monday.

Officials In Virginia Fear Dam Will Collapse As Heavy Rain Forces Evacuations
The area received somewhere between 4 and 6 inches of rain Thursday evening, filling College Lake and flowing over its dam. Additionally, Community Development officials will be assessing buildings to ensure they are safe for people to return to.

Last August, JBLM soldiers gave support in battling blazes in northern California, said Army Lt. Col. Jamie Davis, a Pentagon spokesman.

Hundreds of colleagues, family and friends attended a memorial service Saturday in Fresno for National Forest Service Capt. Brian Hughes.

Mandatory evacuations are in place throughout Shasta and Trinity counties.

Firefighters battle to stop the spread of the massive fire in California.

In an unrelated long-running dispute, farmers have demanded more water to irrigate crops for years, while environmentalists say diverting more water to crops would kill off fish stock and hurt rivers.

According to the LA Times and CalFire, however, the water used for irrigation in Central Valley farms isn't the water that would be used for fighting fires outside of Redding.

The Mendocino Complex blaze has become California's biggest ever fire. Here are the 10 largest fires in California history.

While no casualties have yet been reported, the fires which have been raging throughout Northern California since July 27, have already destroyed 75 residences and are now threatening another 11,300 structures.

"The water that reaches the ocean is what's left after we've diverted most of the water away for cities and farms, and what little is left is barely enough for California's aquatic ecosystems and the fisheries", he said.
