NBC News Reporters Want Donald Trump Banned from Twitter After Threatening Iran

Iran: China "pivotal" to salvaging its nuclear deal

The US sanctions will ban purchases of dollar banknotes by Iran, prevent the government from trading gold and other precious metals and block the nation from selling or acquiring various industrial metals.

The unrest began last Tuesday, almost a week before US President Donald Trump implements the first round of renewed sanctions on Iran on August 6.

He noted that Washington is ready to move to Tehran, but it "requires huge changes in the Iranian regime".

US President Donald Trump pulled out of the 2015 deal in May.

Already facing broad economic fallout as their currency implodes, Iranians are wondering how the next phase of the crisis in USA relations will play out - and what, exactly, America's long-term strategy is toward their country.

And John Bolton, the president's national security adviser, is a well-known Iran hawk who has advocated for regime change.

Trump said this week he is willing to meet with Iran's leadership, without preconditions, "whenever they want" - a sharp departure from his threats against the regime last week.

ATR, jointly owned by European consortium Airbus and Italy's Leonardo, has been pushing USA officials to allow it to finish its delivery of aircraft to Iran.

House Republicans move to impeach deputy AG Rosenstein
Rosenstein, along with FBI Director Christopher Wray, faced dozens of angry Republicans at a House hearing last month. In Wednesday's press statement announcing the articles of impeachment, Jordan once again criticized Rosenstein.

Sporadic protests broke out in several cities in Iran for a fifth night on Saturday, a day after demonstrators attacked a Shi'ite seminary, according to Iranian news agencies and social media, as Iranians brace for a return of USA sanctions.

A major blow for Iran will be the loss of oil sales, which Facts Global Energy analysis firm says could drop from 2.4 million barrels per day to as low as 700,000 by the end of the year.

Though the U.S. sanctions post-deal will be unilateral and not as strong as the pre-deal UN-imposed sanctions, fear angering the United States, the world's largest economy, will likely scare off Europeans who are otherwise committed to the deal.

The agency reported all protests had taken place without official permission and were subsequently broken up by police.

The U.S. has been pushing its allies to halt their import of Iranian oil ahead of the November deadline. Sanctions on trade in Iranian metals and automobiles go back into effect Monday.

Iran's economy was plunged into a downward spiral following Trump's announcement that the United States was scrapping the nuclear deal.

On Saturday, a man taking part in a protest in Karaj in the northern province of Alborz was fatally shot, according to the semi-official Fars news agency.
