Tottenham, who became the first ever top-flight club since 2003 to make it through a summer transfer window without making a signing, were thought to have baulked at Villa's valuation.

The Argentine boss said at the end of last season that Spurs were in a situation where they needed to "be courageous and take risks". They've kept their big names, that's the signings for me.

Their failure to bring anyone in is the first time a Premier League club has not made a signing in the 15 years of the summer transfer window.

Nonetheless, Pochettino insists he is happy with the situation.

"I think it's so hard now because it's only four hours until the end and I don't have news now", Pochettino told a news conference.

"I don't want to be sarcastic and ironic".

"What the club is doing is showing that it is so courageous because building a new training ground, finishing the (player) lodge this summer is a massive investment". Building a new training ground, finishing this summer the lodge was a massive investment. "Building a stadium that is almost £1bn".

"And I think that was a great job from the club to keep the best player and keep the manager".

"I didn't see Tottenham buying anyone anyway, but I'd have them fourth", Merson told Sky Sports. It is better to keep [what you have].

Officials In Virginia Fear Dam Will Collapse As Heavy Rain Forces Evacuations
The area received somewhere between 4 and 6 inches of rain Thursday evening, filling College Lake and flowing over its dam. Additionally, Community Development officials will be assessing buildings to ensure they are safe for people to return to.

Tottenham were rather quiet in the summer transfer window but the Lilywhites managed to keep hold of key players such as Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen. "It's a courageous decision". "It was hard for everybody and for us too".

"You need to give your best to the position the manager says". They need to allow us to manage.

"I am so happy in the way they came back", said the Argentinian.

"Who manages and decides the way to act is the board, and it is not the players".

But he urged them to knuckle down if they remain for the season, saying: "If all the players today are thinking in a collective target, we can be competitive".

Are you anxious about losing Son to the Asian Games? Indeed, Rose is talking to European clubs including Schalke about a loan move.

But Pochettino believes the club have acted on his demand in a different way.

"It is human nature that you always look after yourself", he said.
