Still No Clarity From White House on North Korea Plan

Pompeo told CNN last week he would not put a timeline on negotiations with North Korea, but said the Trump administration will regularly assess the regime's seriousness about abandoning its nuclear program as the USA moves toward normalizing relations with Pyongyang.

The officials said the North Korean dictator would have to show progress for the U.S. to agree to the meeting, according to the report.

North Korea continued to develop a key rocket-engine facility in the run-up to Kim Jong Un's summit with U.S. President Donald Trump, according to an independent analysis of satellite imagery.

Trump tweets Tuesday that "All of Asia is thrilled" that North Korea has halted missile testing and only the "Opposition Party" Democrats, including the "Fake News" is complaining.

The White House declined to comment on the report.

The U.S. side was "working to see whether they can prepare for high-level talks between Secretary Pompeo and Kim Jong Un and others in Pyongyang that would be a specific denuclearization road map, or at least significant dismantlement steps that could fill in a roadmap", he said.

Pompeo will travel to Tokyo after Pyongyang to discuss the denuclearization of North Korea with Japanese and South Korean officials, a statement from the State Department said.

Cavs GM optimistic after talks with Team LeBron
In theory, with the possibility of a rebuild looming, the Cavs should not trade the 8 pick in this year's draft. Since then, the Cavs have been more concerned about winning with James than developing a younger team.

Reports over the past few days indicate that intelligence agencies do not believe Kim Jong-un intends to fully dispose of his nuclear stockpile, and is planning to hide the size of that stockpile and the extent of nuclear facilities while attempting to extract concessions in nuclear talks.

But with the latest remark from the State Department, Washington appears to be giving Pyongyang a little space when it comes to denuclearization with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo scheduled to begin his third trip to Pyongyang today.

It said the findings support a new, previously undisclosed Defense Intelligence Agency estimate that North Korea is unlikely to denuclearize.

Trump did not respond to recent news reports of U.S. intelligence assessments saying Kim Jong-un's regime has been expanding its weapons capabilities after the two leaders held a historic summit in Singapore.

Since the summit, Trump has pushed the idea that North Korea is pursuing denuclearization. They also say the USA has an unrealistic approach to North Korea's denuclearization. "If they have the strategic decision already made to do that and they are cooperative, we can move very quickly". The officials told NBC that North Korea is attempting to "deceive" the United States about the numbers and types of warheads, missiles, and facilities it has. "I'm not going to get into the details, but I can tell you that progress continues to be made", she said.

The satellite images, taken by San Francisco-based Planet Labs Inc. and analyzed by researchers at the Middlebury Institute for International Studies (MIIS) in Monterrey, show Pyongyang finishing construction at the Chemical Material Institute, which researchers say is based in the North Korean city of Hamhung. But the Trump administration remains cautious; it renewed North Korean sanctions last month even after Trump's praise for his agreement with Kim in Singapore.
