President Donald Trump and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker deliver a joint statement on trade in the Rose Garden of the White House Wednesday in Washington, D.C.

This is why we agreed today, first of all, to work together toward zero tariffs, zero non-tariff barriers, and zero subsidies on non-auto industrial goods.

On Tuesday, the Trump administration said it will use a Great Depression-era program to pay up to $12 billion to help US farmers weather the growing trade war. Trump said the European Union agreed to import more US soybeans and liquefied natural gas.

"Assuming we do make a deal with the European Union, it would be logical for the European Union also to be supportive of us in the issues with China", he said. He said the two leaders were working towards a goal of "zero tariffs, zero barriers, and zero subsidies on non-auto industrial goods".

"This is a short-term bridge to help President Trump negotiate trade deals".

"We had a big day, very big", Trump said during a press conference with Juncker.

President Trump is scheduled to hold talk in Washington on July 25 with President of the European Commission Jean Claude Juncker.

"We are close partners, allies - not enemies", Juncker said as Trump nodded and said, "Yes". Trump announced a similar reprieve with China in May, only to impose tariffs.

"Everyone can have a patriotic heart, but this won't improve his economy, and instead it could make us Chinese just shoot ourselves in the foot".

England's Eddie Pepperell had set the early clubhouse target after a superb 67 left him five under par, four shots off the lead. The moment Schauffele's approach stopped short on the 18th green the celebrations could start.

"We are ready to invest in infrastructure and new terminals, which could welcome imports of energy from the United States and elsewhere, but mainly from the United States, if the conditions were right and prices competitive", he said in a speech after the White House meetings.

He has slapped taxes on imported steel and aluminum, saying they pose a threat to US national security.

As he headed into the meeting, Mr. Trump shrugged off intense criticism from business leaders, farmers and his own GOP lawmakers that he was igniting a trade war that hurts the USA economy.

"Are the three majors that are going to be implemented going to affect farmers fairly or are corporations going to be the benefactors of those major.I think they're also really anxious about a prolonged trade war", said Julie Keown-Bomar, Executive Director for the Wisconsin Farmers Union.

"It [Juncker's deal] has made a positive result more likely in the whole discussion between the European Union and the United States in terms of free trade or protectionism", Mass said in Seoul on Thursday.

Many of them, from farm states, were also planning to relay messages from their constituents about how they would prefer markets be reopened than rely on additional government aid, as the White House had recently suggested with an offer of $12 billion for farmers affected by tariffs.

Hours later, he and Juncker came out to the White House Rose Garden for an impromtu press conference - aides were still setting things up when reporters were summoned for a almost hourlong wait - to announce what amounted to a trade relations peace pact between the United States and Europe.

Colorado farmers like Robert Sakata say they'd rather have trade than aid, but with plummeting commodity prices, they need relief.
