On Friday, Trump too talked with Kim Yong Chol who delivered a personal letter from Kim Jong Un in a meeting that lasted nearly two hours.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced Tuesday that the summit will be held June 12 at the Capella Hotel on Singapore's Sentosa Island.

Trump last week said he no longer wanted to use that term and indicated that he was willing to embark on a lengthy series of talks that would ease pressure on the regime.

Schumer expressed hope that next week's high-level summit with North Korea would be successful, adding that Trump had to secure a good deal.
