The Israeli military has come under intense worldwide criticism for permitting its forces to open fire on unarmed protesters in Gaza.

They added that despite their tents being burned, marches would continue until "their goals were achieved".

In the capitals of Iran and Iraq, thousands of Shiite Muslims marched in Jerusalem Day protests, some chanting "Death to Israel" or burning Israeli flags and effigies of President Donald Trump.

Rotem Kamer, head of the Israel Football Association, said Argentina cancelled the match because of pressure from Palestinians and the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement - which leads a global campaign against Israel, targeting the country's economy, art scene and sports.

At least 129 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since protests broke out along the Gaza border on March 30.

Although the Kollek Stadium is in west Jerusalem, it is located in a neighbourhood built where a Palestinian village once stood before it was destroyed in the war surrounding Israel's independence in 1948.

U.K. Government Debates Changing Northern Ireland’s Abortion Laws
The UK's highest court said on Thursday that Northern Ireland's abortion laws are incompatible with human rights legislation. Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission had challenged the law in court.

"Washington's gross insult and hostile act against the Palestinian people, symbolized in the split-screen reality of the embassy inauguration in Jerusalem while there was an ongoing massacre in Gaza, is not going to prevent us from talking about peace".

"Since they announced they would play against Israel, different terror groups have been sending messages and letters to players on the Argentina national team and their relatives, including clear threats to hurt them and on the lives of their families", Regev said.

The cancellation followed protests in support of Palestinian rights. Two-thirds of Gaza's 2 million residents are descendants of refugees.

The territory has been controlled by Hamas for more than a decade, during which it has fought three wars against Israel.

Following a request by the Palestinians earlier today (Saturday) to hold an emergency meeting at the UN's General Assembly over what they are calling "an excessive use of force" by Israel, the United Nations is scheduled to vote as early as this Wednesday on a resolution on Gaza that will condemn Israel.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Saturday inflicted a warning air strike on a group of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, which were preparing to send a batch of explosive balloons over the border into Israel, a IDF spokesperson said.

Emmanuel Nahshon, spokesman for Israel's Foreign Ministry, took to Twitter to condemn the Hamas "terrorists".

"We are not asking for the moon", said Amer Abu Khalaf, a 20-year-old business administration student who took part in the protest, saying it aimed to "break the siege and have the world recognize our right to return".
