India Has Set Example By Committing To Beat Plastic Pollution UN

The 2018 edition of World Environment Day, celebrated by the United Nations every June 5, is focusing on this issue with the slogan: "Beat Plastic Pollution: If You Can't Reuse it, Refuse It". This theme requires all of us to consider and change our lifestyle towards reducing plastic pollution in our country, especially from "single use plastics". "Hyundai will be observing June 2018 as Environment Preservation Month by integrating several sustainability initiatives towards water conservation and pollution check through Free Dry wash technique, PUC and Emission Check for Hyundai cars".

"Reuse and recycling of plastics really do not have the capacity to remove the pollutants from the system; they can only reduce the volume being introduced".

Twelve local and worldwide companies signed a declaration in Auckland on Tuesday, World Environmental Day, to move to reusable, recyclable or compostable plastics by 2025. In total, 50 per cent of the plastic is of single use. "The world is waking up to the fact that plastic pollution is one of the most urgent environmental issues of our time, but that it's also something that we can solve".

Plastic pollution is affecting even remote areas of the planet, including the Artic.

According to Cheema, most of these plastics eventually make their way into rivers, water channels and finally, into the oceans.

Former QB Oliver Luck to become XFL commissioner
The XFL was searching for luck when it announced it would reboot a league that had collapsed in 2001, after just one season. The 58-year-old was the director of athletics at West Virginia for four years before joining the NCAA in 2014.

THE Federal Government has disclosed that a National Policy on Plastic Waste management will be enacted soon as part of the efforts to mitigate environmental pollution in Nigeria.

Since it was first celebrated in 1974, the Day has helped raise awareness and generate political momentum around global environmental concerns such as ozone depletion, desertification and global warming.

India has set an example on the world stage by committing to beat plastic pollution and showcased best practices and innovations to overcome the challenge, a senior United Nations official has said.

Choose a type of single-use plastic you're ready to give up. Plastic bags don't biodegrade, they photodegrade i.e. breaking down into smaller and smaller toxic bits contaminating soil and waterways and entering the food web when animals accidentally ingest them.

The United Nations warns that 360 million tonnes of plastic is produced each year, and levels are set to nearly double to 619 million tonnes by 2030, with cigarette butts, drinks bottles and caps and food wrappers the most common single-use plastics.
