Severe thunderstorms with strong winds and hail are possible Thursday afternoon across Central Maryland, meteorologists said. This will bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Friday afternoon into Friday evening.

The Strom Prediction Center of America has placed the entire viewing area under a Slight Risk for Severe Weather.

Thursday's storm potential will be followed by warm, clear weather through the weekend, according to the weather service forecast. Friday will feature much more sunshine with highs approaching 90 degrees for many.

Today's high is expected to reach the upper 80s.

Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are possible, a few of which could be strong to severe.

Saturday also will be partly cloudy, with temperatures climbing into the 90s.

One severe weather report has been a measured 61 miles per hour gust at the South Haven Regional Airport at 8:16 p.m.

It should be dry Monday for the start of the workweek, the weather service said.

Tuesday night, expect a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of 66, according to the weather service.
