"The storm struck around 3am and uprooted a neem tree that fell on his hut and crushed him to death", a villager said.

Yesterday's storm saw several villages and towns plunged into darkness after it uprooted electric poles and downed wires.

On Wednesday, a high-intensity dust storm hit New Delhi and Haryana on late Monday night. "Four deaths were reported from Etawah, three each from Mathura and Aligarh, two each in Firozabad and Agra and one death each in Hathras and Kanpur Dehat last night", an official spokesperson said.

In the May 2 storm, 73 people were killed and 91 injured across 23 districts in UP. Two others were killed when a tractor-trolley turned turtle in Khajravas area of the district.

In a statement issued by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who is away campaigning in Karnataka, he directed district officials to provide immediate compensation to the affected persons and calculate the losses.

Four loud explosions heard in Saudi Arabia
The missiles were "unquestionably" fired at the city "with the intention of hitting inhabited areas", he added. Four loud booms were heard in the city center Wednesday, witnesses told Reuters .

Agra - home to Taj Mahal - was the worst affected in the deadly dust storm that left almost 150 people dead across six Indian states in early May. Seventy-three of them died in the worst-hit northern Uttar Pradesh state alone. An official release said he asked the ministers-in-charge and district magistrates to visit the affected districts.

As many as 124 people had died in the thunderstorm which hit Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on 3 May, according to the National Emergency Response Centre (NERC), ministry of home affairs.

Schools and colleges were closed in several districts based on the storm warnings, he said.

Adityanath has issued directives to the administration to speed up relief operations. The injured were rushed to Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Hospital.
