The NES Classic Edition will return next month

As far as NES Classic Edition re-release is concerned, gamers hope that this time Nintendo will be able to keep up with the demand. The mini-console became sparse in retail stores as soon as it launched.

The NES Classic (See on Amazon) launched in late 2016, instantly becoming a hit for the holiday season. However, consumers are getting a second chance at obtaining the retro relic this summer. Back in September of a year ago, Nintendo announced the NES Classic would be returning to shelves, but they've kept us on tenterhooks ever since.

"Fans have shown their unbridled enthusiasm for these Classic Edition systems, so Nintendo is working to put many more of them on store shelves", the company said in a press release a year ago.

But, Nintendo eventually realized it was leaving money on the table and, five months later, it announced it would bring the NES Classic back in 2018 and increase shipments of the SNES Classic. These scalpers would then resell the consoles on sites like eBay at grossly inflated prices.

During the event, tanks, aircraft and missile defense systems (including the S-300 and S-400 models) were on display. However, Russia denied the linkage.

Purchase an NES Classic Edition console starting June 29. The MSRP for the NES Classic Edition will be $59.99 - about 1/3rd of what it will cost you to buy one of the scalped ones these days. Like the NES Classic Edition, the SNES Classic Edition comes bundled with popular games for the original Super Nintendo Entertainment System - but only 21 games to the NES Classic's 30. Nintendo has given the re-release date of June 29th.

Although Sam doesn't show any games actually running on the Switch, his short video shows the SNES Classic interface in all its glory.

And for those wondering about a Nintendo 64 Classic Edition, Nintendo has "nothing to announce".
