People are wondering if a cryptic tweet President Donald Trump sent in 2013 shows he knew something about ousted New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.

Eric Schneiderman, New York State Attorney General, has resigned from his position overnight amid allegations of violence against at least 4 women during his tenure. One source told the newspaper that Schneiderman would only face misdemeanors, if anything, while another said that he could face a felony charge for choking a woman, depending on how prosecutors assess the case.

"I have tremendous accolades for the women who came forward", Mr. Cuomo said in video posted by NBC News.

A newly announced Republican-Conservative candidate for NY attorney general is asking "who else knew" about the allegations that led to the downfall of Democrat Eric Schneiderman. I have not assaulted anyone.

Underwood was appointed solicitor general in January 2007, after previously serving as counsel and chief assistant to the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of NY, holding executive positions in the Queens and Brooklyn District Attorneys' offices and a trial attorney for their Manhattan counterpart.

"While these allegations are unrelated to my professional conduct or the operations of the office, they will effectively prevent me from leading the office's work at this critical time", he said. (She had no intention of having a threesome.) She recalls, "Sometimes, he'd tell me to call him Master, and he'd slap me until I did".

New York's top law enforcement official has been accused by four women of serial abuse.

Mr. Schneiderman has always been regarded as one of the state's most progressive politicians, even before his 2013 lawsuit against Trump University and his subsequent suits against the Trump administration made him the darling of the political left.

Jennifer Cunningham, Schneiderman's ex-wife, came to his defense Monday evening and said in a statement that the allegations "are completely inconsistent with the man I know".

Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., and counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway both took to Twitter to celebrate Schneiderman's downfall. Schneiderman had earned national recognition for playing a central role in resisting the Trump's administration policies.

Aside from former Minnesota Senator Al Franken, who resigned amid allegations of sexual misconduct a year ago, Schneiderman is one of the most high-profile progressive politician to be felled by the #MeToo movement.

But on CNN's "New Day" on Tuesday, reporter Ronan Farrow rejected Schneiderman's claim that the alleged violence was a form of sexual role-play.

Schneiderman, who has been AG since 2011, said his resignation be effective at the close of business on Tuesday.

The allegations were stunning given Schneiderman's track record of advocating for women, including pursuing a case against movie producer Harvey Weinstein, who has been accused of repeated assaults and attacks on women. (Never mind that Schneiderman previously dragged his feet on the investigation of Trump University - something that, if it had been settled sooner, potentially could have stopped the Trump candidacy in its tracks.) Top lawyers from the private sector and from the US attorney's office came to work for him. Under state law, the NY legislature has the authority to appoint Schneiderman's successor.

Schneiderman has been a vocal supporter of the #MeToo movement.

At the direction of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, he is now reviewing the 2015 decision by the Manhattan district attorney, Cyrus R. Vance Jr., not to prosecute Mr. Weinstein after an Italian model accused him of groping her.

"I've known Eric for almost 35 years as a husband, father and friend", said Jennifer Cunningham, his former wife and frequent political strategist. The New York Legislature will choose Schneiderman's replacement.

Schneiderman was viewed by liberals as the rare bright light in the dismal tea party election season of 2010, and he quickly became a nationwide progressive darling, winding up on the cover of magazines like The American Prospect.
