"I was concerned for my sons' safety and advised them to return home immediately", she tells KUNC.

In an email to students and staff Wednesday, university officials outlined what happened, saying in part: "The CSUPD spoke with the students, confirmed they were part of the tour, and allowed them to rejoin the group". Critics are holding up the incident as just the latest example of racial profiling. "This incident is sad and frustrating from almost every angle, particularly the experience of two students who were here to see if this was a good fit for them as an institution", CSU officials said.

The teens drove seven hours from New Mexico to Fort Collins, Colorado, with the family's only auto to visit the campus on April 30. She tells member station KUNC that the police intervention left her sons frantic and unsure of what they should do. By the time they showed up, the tour had already begun. They were eventually released, but missed the rest of the tour.

The boys told her they were too shy to speak up during introductions, and that's when another parent contacted CSU police. But by that time, the tour had moved on, the school said.

"It breaks my heart, because they didn't do anything to warrant that", Gray said. "They're walking on their own ancestors' land, so it breaks my heart".

Friday, May 4, CSU released the 911 call and police body cam video of the incident.

He mentioned again then: 'I believe when a goalkeeper is a participant of the season, it is as a result of one thing is flawed. The ball looked liked it had been cleared off the line by Marcos Rojo but it was later awarded by goal-line technology.

Other than saying the teens were wearing all black clothing with "dark stuff on it", the caller did not physically describe them until questioned by the dispatcher. One officer can be heard telling the brothers why they were isolated and pulled aside in the first place.

The teens' faces are blurred out and their names are muted in the video because one of them is under 18. "He said he's from Mexico". School officials say a parent in the group called the police to report feeling nervous about their presence.

"Yeah", the boys answer, one of them with his hands outstretched and slightly elevated.

Footage from the encounter showed the young men complying with officers and asking questions. On Friday, May 4, the school tweeted that they have made several attempts to contact the Gray family, and that they "deeply regret the unwelcoming and concerning experience they had while guests on our campus". The school would like to reimburse the boys for any travel expenses, Frank said. Tony Frank said. "The very idea that someone-anyone-might "look" like they don't belong on a CSU Admissions tour is anathema". "And if you're uncomfortable with a diverse and inclusive academic environment, then you probably have a better fit elsewhere". "I make that declarative statement from within a glass house: a white man in a position of authority", the university president wrote. The event sparked massive outrage on social media, and Starbucks responded by closing its stores for racial bias training, in addition to establishing a $200,000 grant program for high school students who aspire to entrepreneurship.

Out of the 32,000 students who attend Colorado State University, 0.6 percent have American Indian or Alaskan native ancestry, according to Forbes.
