Gini Wijnaldum shows he gets Liverpool with approach to Champions League final

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has laughed off talk that both he and his Real Madrid counterpart, Zinedine Zidane, are tactically clueless ahead of Saturday's Champions League final.

A corner flag is pictured, showing the final venue during a Liverpool team training session at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev, Ukraine on May 25, 2018, on the eve of the UEFA Champions League final football match between Liverpool and Real Madrid.

"Experience is important. I'm pretty sure that in the seconds before the game Real will be more confident than we are, but that's not important because the game doesn't end in that moment, it only starts", said Klopp, who lost the 2013 final with Borussia Dortmund. "When you see Real Madrid play you say "wow they are really strong" but they never played us", Klopp said.

Experience means his team have to be the outsiders in Kiev - none of the squad have ever played in a Champions League final before - but Klopp knows Zinedine Zidane's side can not dismiss them.

"People are trying to put pressure on me?" he said, laughing.

Klopp's players are lucky to be at the club at a time when a team have gelled together wonderfully well and there is no reason why they can't now be crowned as champions of Europe.

Not just a first Champions League success, but a first major title in football in his maiden cup final. "He's shown that this year and he's got a great chance to show that over the next few years as Ronaldo and Messi have done - but the day after tomorrow".

If you can not watch the final, we have quite the alternative for you.

"I know exactly how I have to play", insisted Marcelo on Friday.

Liverpool can earn their first trophy of the Klopp era with a win over Real Madrid in the Ukrainian capital.

"But it's a final, it's one game and anything can happen", Pons explained.

Real can became the first team since Bayern in 1976 to lift the European Cup three years running, and thereby make it five consecutive titles for Spain.

Even the normally level headed Tony Kroos appears to be getting caught up in the Madrid hype, blithely saying: "It is a great achievement for Liverpool to reach a final and to have a chance to win the Champions League".

For once in a Champions League final, Cristiano Ronaldo will yield some of the spotlight to another player sweeping up adulation and personal acclaim.

"But very often in these games when it starts the nerves get the better of you and you start off not wanting to make mistakes".

According to Marca, Bale, who started his career as a rampaging left-back, will be expected to perform a more defensive role in an attempt to nullify the threat of Liverpool's top scorer this season Mohamed Salah.

"We know, of course, about the insane quality, the experience, " he said.
