Facebook to reject abortion referendum ads from outside Ireland

Facebook will no longer accept ads from groups outside of Ireland related to the upcoming abortion referendum, the social network announced Tuesday.

In a statement issued today, Facebook said: "Concerns have been raised about organisations and individuals based outside of Ireland trying to influence the outcome of the referendum on the Eighth Amendment to the Constitution of Ireland by buying ads on Facebook".

"Today, as part of our".

Facebook said that it will not allow any ads coming from foreign sources which are deemed to be "attempting to influence the outcome of the vote on May 25".

Facebook will be working with political parties, groups from both the yes and no campaigns and the Transparent Referendum Initiative - these groups will be notifying Facebook about concerning ad campaigns, which the firm will then assess.

In order to increase transparency around political advertising, Facebook has been developing a series of "election integrity tools", which will seek to inform users who the payee is and where they are from.

The boys told her they were too shy to speak up during introductions, and that's when another parent contacted CSU police. She tells member station KUNC that the police intervention left her sons frantic and unsure of what they should do.

As part of the process, Ireland has also became the first country outside the U.S. to receive a set of advertiser-transparency tools Facebook promised in early in April.

Pro-abortion forces both inside Ireland and internationally have carried on an intense campaign to persuade the Irish to abandon their defense of preborn children, with the help of celebrities like U2's Bono and actor Liam Neeson as well as global financiers such as George Soros. It added: "We will then assess and act on those reports".

Online advertising is not regulated for under Ireland's electoral laws. We will also be using machine learning to help us with this effort to identify ads that should no longer be running.

Ireland bars political donations from overseas, but the law does not apply to social media advertising.

U2's backing prompted a backlash from hundreds of pro-life supporters who blasted the band for its Christian roots, including Chris Stefanick, who said, "You've turned your back on your Irish Catholic people fighting for a culture of life and human dignity at the most fundamental level".

The party is also calling on Google to introduce similar restrictions on its YouTube platform.
