Carroll was unhappy with not featuring in the 4-1 defeat against the champions, leaving the bench before the end of the game after not being used as a substitute.

West Ham travel to Leicester City this weekend still needing points to guarantee safety, and Moyes has indicated that he has been left encouraged by his team's efforts in training.

"I was really disappointed in Andy", Moyes said.

Andy Carroll is expected to remain in contention for West Ham for the remainder of the season after apologising to David Moyes.

"The following day we had a discussion in the office at Rush Green [West Ham's training ground]". Within an hour, it was out there for public consumption, which is also disappointing.

West Ham, who are now three places and three points above 18th-placed Southampton, were trailing 4-1 when Moyes decided against bringing on Carroll. "Things go on all the time at clubs and there needs to be some privacy".

At a press conference, the 55-year-old told reporters: "The players are good".

"To be fair, Andy texted me later and apologised".

As per reports, West Ham are ready to pay £30 million for the 2016 Premier League champion this summer, exceeding the £24 million they paid for Stoke City's Marko Arnautovic. "If we can win all three of those games then we might find ourselves quite high up the table so that is what we are going to try to do".

"I would like to deal with the situation regarding Andy Carroll that came out of our game against Manchester City", Moyes wrote in his Evening Standard column.
