Jeffress responded to Romney's criticisms.

The Rev. Robert Jeffress, pastor of the First Baptist megachurch in Dallas and a longtime supporter of President Donald Trump, told Fox News on Friday that he's delivering an opening prayer of dedication at the ceremony.

Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, who now is running for the Senate in Utah, said in a tweet Sunday evening that "Robert Jeffress says 'you can't be saved by being a Jew, ' and 'Mormonism is a heresy from the pit of hell.' He's said the same about Islam".

In a Sunday evening tweet, former Gov. Mitt Romeny (R-MA and UT) railed against pastor Robert Jeffress, who is leading the prayer in Jerusalem as the new American embassy opens.

Jeffress endorsed Romney, who is Mormon, for president in 2012, The Hill reported.

After a day's delay , Bangladesh's first satellite was today successfully launched atop the first SpaceX Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket. The satellite is called after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, that is considered as the founding father of Bangladesh.

"I imagine, Father, I communicate for each one among us once I say we thanks every single day that you've given us a president who boldly stands on the best aspect of historical past, however extra importantly stands on the best aspect of you, God, with regards to Israel", Jeffress mentioned in a blessing. "The fact that I, along with tens of millions of evangelical Christians around the world, continue to espouse that belief, is neither bigoted nor newsworthy". Jeffress later told reporters that he did not understand the controversy surrounding his comments since they reflected the views held by most evangelicals.

Big-name pastors also came to Jeffress' defense, including Greg Laurie of Harvest Christian Fellowship in California. He said at the time, "The idea that Mormonism is a theological cult is not news either".

With Trump making good on a campaign promise to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem, the White House delegation to Monday's historic opening include senior advisers Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, the president's daughter, and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.

Christian leaders in Jerusalem strongly criticized Trump's decision to move the embassy, warning that it would "yield increased hatred, conflict, violence and suffering in Jerusalem and the Holy Land, moving us farther from the goal of unity and deeper toward destructive division".
