The Ministry of Health Friday said that Israeli forces used an '"unknown" gas against unarmed, peaceful Palestinians on the fifth consecutive Friday of the Great March of Return protests to the east of al-Buriej refugee camp, in central Gaza.

Oweida was the fourth person to have died from Friday's clashes, according to the ministry's figures, which said 955 people were wounded during the protests.

The first death confirmed by Gaza's health ministry was that of 29-year-old Abdul Salam Bakr. Azzam Halal Owaida, 15, was said to have been shot in the head.

The Great March of Return movement is officially scheduled to continue until May 15, known as Nakba Day, marking the expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians during the creation of Israel.

"It is OUTRAGEOUS to shoot at children!" tweeted UN Middle East peace envoy Nickolay Mladenov.

The events of recent weeks build on a background of years of concerns expressed by the United Nations and others of excessive use of force by Israeli forces against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank (including East Jerusalem) and Gaza.

As on past Fridays, protesters gathered at five sites they have established near the perimeter fence.

"The nature of these injuries shows that Israeli soldiers are using high-velocity military weapons created to cause maximum harm to Palestinian protesters that do not pose imminent threat to them", an Amnesty report noted.

She loved her family fiercely, was a compassionate friend and among the most talented and innovative professionals in her field. The Police Superintendent pointed out that there were no indications of Mark's wife being capable of gunning down a person.

The army added that more than 10,000 Palestinians participated in Friday's events, saying "attempts have been made to harm security infrastructure, roll burning tires, hurl rocks and fly kites with flaming objects attached to them". Several were wounded by Israeli fire in response. Israeli Defense Forces spokesman Jonathan Conricus described "a massive attempt by dozens of rioters" to breach a border fence less than a kilometer from Israeli civilians.

Three other Palestinians were shot dead during Friday's protests.

The IDF also released a photo appearing to show a group of youths tugging at barbed wire along the fence.

US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, blamed the Islamic fundamentalist group Hamas for attacking Israel while using Palestinian people as human shields. Organizers call the Great March of Return, as it's billed, a nonviolent demonstration meant to call attention to the plight of Palestinian refugees and to demand the return of lands lost to Israel in 1948.

Some 41 Palestinians have been killed and more than 5,000 wounded since six weeks of announced protests began on 30 March.

Eyewitnesses said the two boats were badly damaged.

"I am extremely concerned that by the end of today - and next Friday, and the Friday after that - more unarmed Palestinians who were alive this morning will have been killed, simply because, while exercising their right to protest, they approached a fence, or otherwise attracted the attention of the soldiers on the other side", Zeid said.
